Building the digital infrastructure for nature investment
During the conversation, Andy shared how his background in technology and asset management platforms has shaped his work at Kana Earth. The focus: developing the digital infrastructure that enables high-integrity natural capital projects to be understood, managed, and ultimately financed by institutional investors.
This infrastructure is critical to building trust, standardising processes, and giving asset owners the confidence to engage in this emerging market. As Andy highlighted, “nature becomes investable when the data, reporting structures, and delivery mechanisms match the expectations of institutional capital.”
Collaboration as a catalyst for market growth
A central theme of the episode was the growing momentum across the UK’s natural capital sector. Credit goes to Oxygen Conservation and others helping to drive collective action, shared learning, and genuinely collaborative approaches. These partnerships are setting the foundation for the UK to become a global leader in investable nature and nature-based solutions.
Introducing Natural Capital: A Guide for Institutional Investors
Andy also discussed the release of our new report, "Natural Capital: A Guide for Institutional Investors", developed with Aberdeen Investments, Gresham House, and Rebalance Earth. The guide outlines how natural capital can sit at the core of institutional portfolios, offering diversification, long-term structural opportunities, and measurable nature-positive outcomes.
It provides practical insights into the investment theme across sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry, and nature-based solutions — and sets out the real-economy drivers shaping the market’s rapid evolution.
