Launching "Natural Capital: A Guide for Institutional Investors"
Kana Earth is pleased to announce the release of Natural Capital: A Guide for Institutional Investors, produced in collaboration with Aberdeen Investments, Gresham House, and Rebalance Earth.
09 October 2025
The guide offers a structured framework for institutional investors allocating to, or considering allocations to, natural capital.
The group has come together with a shared goal: to advance natural capital as a practical investment theme. It sets out how to allocate to natural capital across private markets, including real estate, infrastructure, private equity, and alternatives, and explains how these strategies can deliver both financial returns and nature-positive outcomes.
Natural Capital as a strategic priority
More than £33 trillion of global economic value depends directly on nature. As climate and biodiversity risks become increasingly visible, natural capital is shifting from a niche allocation to a mainstream institutional priority. These investments offer long-term resilience, tangible value, and alignment with sustainability objectives.
The market is entering a critical phase. Systemic risks are accelerating, yet natural capital remains undervalued. Policy, regulation and investor demand are evolving rapidly, creating a limited window to secure access to high-quality opportunities in land, agriculture and forestry. Acting now positions investors ahead of rising costs, tightening supply and increasing compliance pressures.
Why investors are moving now
Natural capital offers inflation protection, diversification, and the potential for strong, stable returns — all while delivering measurable climate and nature outcomes. For institutions focused on long-term resilience and impact, it is fast becoming a strategic allocation. Acting now allows investors to stay ahead of rising costs, tightening supply and increasing compliance pressures. Early movers will be best placed to capture value and help shape the next phase of sustainable investing.
Webinar insights
To mark the launch, Kana Earth and partners hosted a webinar with LGPS asset owners and advisers. The conversation signalled a clear transition from exploration to implementation, with many allocators now shaping dedicated natural capital strategies.

Further insights will be shared at the Ecosystems Knowledge Network Nature Finance UK Conference in November, where the collaboration will continue exploring how institutional capital can accelerate nature recovery.
